KACG
The Korean Academy of Geriatrics & Gerontology
Purpose
-
Geriatrics aims for clinical experience and academic depth following the innate concept of medicine as an applied science, not a pure science. Geriatric care needs to maintain comprehensive diagnosis and care diversity, which combines and provides socioeconomic studies and natural sciences appropriate for each elderly individual.
-
The KACG provides a field that allows experts, who are interested in geriatrics, to expand their underlying knowledge and perform more comprehensive geriatric activities. The KACG was established to contribute to the development of geriatrics and improvement in elderly wellbeing via research for the prevention, treatment, and management of geriatric diseases and academic exchanges between members.
-
Since its foundation, the KACG has seen its membership grow to 3,000, has hosted 38 academic conferences and training programs, has held forums and branch seminars once or twice each year, has published its academic journal twice a year, and publicized the geriatrics textbook (3rd edition). Putting together the know-how of the KACG, with those who have remained committed to the development of geriatrics, we will continue to dedicate ourselves to academic activities to advance geriatrics and improve the elderly¡¯s quality of life. We will also constantly devote ourselves to better public health in the future, when life expectancy is expected to reach 100 years, as well as qualitative advances in Korea¡¯s geriatrics in the world via exchange of medical information, support of research activities, and publication of research findings.
