About KACG (The Korean Academy of Geriatrics & Gerontology)
In September 1992, around 10 doctors who were interested in geriatrics established the Korean Society of Geriatrics and began exchanging knowledge with one another on a monthly basis through seminars. As geriatrics is expected to be more relevant, academically and socially, the need to systemize related doctors so they deliver gastric care more professionally was greatly needed.

In this regard, the Preparatory Committee for the Establishment of the Geriatrics Association was created on March 30, 1999, and the Preparatory Committee for the Foundation of the Geriatrics Association was established on September 14, 1999, which were provided as tentative names for the Korean Academy of Geriatrics & Gerontology (KACG).

On October 14, 1999, a foundation ceremony for the tentative name of KACG was held in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel with 34 founders (23 from universities, 6 from hospitals, and 5 from clinics) along with 81 attendees.

On October 31, 1999, the KACG was launched with the opening of the KACG Inaugural Assembly and Academic Conference with 378 attendees in the InterContinental Hotel. Seo Jung-Sam (from the Department of Internal Medicine in Hankook General Hospital) was appointed as the Chairman, Lee Woo-Hyung (from the Department of Inha University Hospital) was appointed as an auditor, and 413 members in total were registered.
